Simple Spring Beauty Trends To Try
Spring is the season of change. When it comes to skin care, hair, and makeup, it’s a great excuse to toss old habits to the side and start trying something new. Here are some of our favorite spring beauty trends here at Broken Arrow Beauty College:
Gold Highlighter
At first, yellow gold highlighter might seem intimidating. It’s not subtle, but when it comes to makeup, sometimes it’s fun to make a statement! A gold highlighter is a perfect way to do just that. It’ll give you an obvious, otherworldly glow when applied to the tops of your cheekbones. Highlighter has been trending for a few years, but a gold highlight is a great way to change it up and do something a little bit different.
Upside Down Eyeliner
Remember when cat flick eyeliner on the upper lash line was the biggest thing since sliced bread? Take that and reverse it. By lining your bottom lash line, either with classic black or a bold color like blue, you can instantly define your eyes. It’s especially striking if you choose a color that coordinates with your eyes. Blue eyes look bluer when paired with browns, brown eyes shine with gray or blue tones, and green eyes look even greener when you wear purple or red tones.
Scrunchies
If you were a scrunchie die-hard back in the day, you’re in luck. Scrunchies are back in a big way. Nowadays you can find scrunchies in a variety of colors, fabrics, and textures. There are scrunchies made of cotton, chiffon, velvet, lace, and sequins. You can find scrunchies in neutral colors, bright, bold florals, delicate pastels, and even some that are shiny and holographic. A scrunchie is a great way to change up a ponytail, braid, bun, or half-up, half-down hairstyle by adding a pop of color and a fun texture.
Fresh Faced Looks
Dewy, natural looks have been on trend for a few months, and they’re here to stay. Fresh, moisturized skin, a rosy glow, and simple makeup can make you look healthier, younger, and more awake. It all starts with skin care. Make cleansing and moisturizing a part of your daily ritual. You should also integrate exfoliation into your week. Just make sure not to do it more than three times a week, as over-exfoliation can crack the skin barrier and lead to dehydration and inflammation. Use lightweight foundations and concealers to create flawless skin that doesn’t look cakey or unnatural. Finally, tint your cheeks and lips with an oil or cream product for that rosy, healthy flush. If you want to apply eye makeup, keep it simple with some mascara and brow tint.
Low-Key Hair
Want a simple hairstyle to match your natural makeup? Low-key hair is a big trend this season. If complicated braids, time-consuming curls, and difficult buns aren’t your thing, this is great news for you. Low ponytails and buns are back in fashion. They’re easy to do and look chic, especially when completed with a scrunchie or ribbon. Sleek and simple hair is also a trend this season, which you can easily create with a straightening iron if you don’t have naturally straight hair. For a more textured look, try adding some simple, soft waves. You don’t even need to use heat styling tools for these, just braid your hair when it’s wet and sleep on it. Got curly hair? Big, curly hair reminiscent of the 1980s is in. This season keep it simple and let it fly free with its full body and texture!
Glitter Eyeshadow
Glitter is in fashion like never before, and that’s especially true when using it as part of your eyeshadow routine. Glitter gives a luscious pop without the added stress of having to nail hard lines in your makeup. It’s also an easy way to add a little extra pizzazz to a look you already enjoy. Simply roll on a little glitter using a Q-tip and you’re good to go!
Metallic Lipstick
Bold color choices and color block makeup have been on trend lately, especially with lipstick. Now, in addition to your ombre or glitter options, you can now wear a ravishing metallic lipstick with your newest look! It’s a great way to make your lips shine and pop while keeping your makeup routine relatively simple.
Wavey Curtain Bangs
Waves? Check. Ashy highlights? Check. You’re already well on your way to a fashionable look for 2019 in the spring. With a subtle part down the middle and a nice set of curtain bangs, you can capture one of the latest hair trends of the year. Bangs should be considered carefully because they don’t work for every look on every person, so consult with a cosmetologist before making the jump to cutsey curtains!
